Properties and Statistics

Combat Mechanics referring to properties of actions or statistical values are listed here.


Damage
The HP lost by an enemy when they are hit, not to be confused with Attack Rating.

Invincibility Frames (Iframes)
Frames in which someone cannot take damage. A player has iframes during rolls, certain attacks, ripostes, backstabs and certain other animations such as pulling a lever.

Hyper Armour (HA)
A state in which the player cannot be staggered by attacks if they have the sufficient poise. Many PvE enemies also have hyper armour.

Poise Breakpoint
The amount of poise required to get hit by an attack while in hyper armour and not get staggered. Being hit by an attack while in hyper armour with less poise than the required breakpoint will cause the hyper armour to fail and result in being staggered.

Counter Hit
During an attack thrust absorption drops by 30%; an attack that lands during the frames where the absorption penalty is active and deals thrust damage is a counter hit. Not related to instability.

Instability
A state in which the target will take 40% extra damage from attacks. Not related to counter hits.

Hitstun
The period in which you cannot perform an action after being hit by an attack. Different attacks have varying degrees of hitstun that prevent you from performing actions for different durations.

Blockstun
The period in which you cannot perform an action after blocking an attack. Different attacks have varying degrees of blockstun that prevent you from performing actions for different durations.
